hi , i am new to this forum , and am only here bcause i have been a die-hard fan of compiz...and i want to be one of the developers of this awesome project:cool:
so i need some help from you all...just to make a beginning.
i read the sticky pages ,about the OpenGL tutorials...but i dont know what it is and what is its connection with compiz.
plus, i have just started building Qt applications...doesnt compiz make use of Qt ? i only turned to Qt as i read that it make cross-platform applications..but if it doesnt support compiz development..i can still leave it away !!
hoping for a good response !! thanks.

To develop plugins for compiz, you just need knowledge of c and openGL, compiz doesn't use any toolkits, so QT is completely unrelated.

Just C/OpenGL for the most of it

thanks a lot for the reply sir !! i never expected a reply...
i have a good base for C , but i havent tried graphics designing in C, i thought C wasnt made for it:monkey:....but you changed the outlook totally!!

one more favour..
can you recommend me some book taking into consideration my present knowledge base :
C (no graphics programming)
C++
java
i am still trying hands over qt
have no knowledge about OpenGL

Sorry, but I don't even know any languages (unless bash is considered one), I just know which ones are used

then how are you into the compiz development ??
i mean all that comes into mind when i hear "software like compiz", is "coding", and for that you need a language..
so how do you manage to be a developer ? is bash also sufficient ??

The developers do often respond to questions on here, but they are most often busy developing :-)

I translate (though I only did ~10 strings (too lazy to do more :p))

Most of the devs work on compiz/-fusion in their free time, only a few are employed by conical and novell
