run gtk-window-decorator --replace& if using compiz or emerald --replace& if running beryl.

There are a few things you can try, first check that you have a program called gtk-window-decorator installed. If you do then check these things.
1. Make sure the decoration plugin is loaded in gconf and that it is loaded after the gconf plugin.
2. Edit this setting /apps/compiz/plugins/decoration/allscreens/options/command change it to gtk-window-decorator --replace
3. If you are using nVidia drivers, type this line as root (if you are using ubuntu then add sudo before)
nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals
