Hi,

In compiz, when I scroll the mouse all the way to top right, all the windows show themselves. It would be great to have a feature where if one of these windows "changes", that window is immediately brought to the forefront and has focus. Practical applications of this are monitoring a process ( i.e. network monitoring etc ). Another application is someone signs onto instant messenger... I don't know if this is feasible but it would be a great feature to have..

This would be vastly impractical. What if you don't want to go straight to that window? However, if the window that needs attention flashed like it does in the panel, that would be useful.

Hi,

Basically the idea would be to make this a configurable plugin. It would obviously not be on by default but one could enable it and configure it. Like you said, one of the options could be to have the window blink if there is a change... One of the things I can imagine its use is for large enterprise where they need to monitor various processes (i.e. key links between different sites, key systems etc ). Situations where anything different than the status quo needs immediate attention.

I think this is basically similar to demands attention.

I am working on a plugin at the moment which might do what you need, it will be like an always on scale for keeping an eye on other windows..

Sometimes you are not always looking for activity, you might be looking for lack of activity or a specific activity, so its best left to the application to tell you it needs attention.

P.S. Do you use konsole? It has some very cool features like 'watch for activity' and 'watch for silence' which I think are very useful.
