Problem: No alpha blur (but focus blur works)

This is my problem: i cannot get alpha blur to work (blur windows plugins).

The plugin manages to blur windows when i enable "focus blur". Weird.

The plugin does not blur the background either (i'm not sure it's supposed to - but i remember it did back in the day :) ). Take a look at the attached screenshot

Also attaching blur plugin configuration.

any help would be greatly appreciated.



I use ubuntu hardy with compiz-fusion from repos, nvidia and xgl

what video card do you have? what method do you use to render compiz ? (Xgl/AiGLX/Nvidia)

Edit: Never mind, try disabling xgl, then run 'sudo nvidia-xconfig --composite --add-argb-glx-visuals -d 24'
