I installed compiz and not my windows borders and title bars are missing.

I tried compiz-decorator & and kde-window-decorator --replace &
no change.

the window decoration plugin is enabled in ccsm.

The title bars are transparent as are the buttons on the title bar but I am able to close and minimize the windows by clicking where the buttons should be. When I move the window there is a thin white outline of the title bar.

the opacity set to in the Window Decoration plugin has been tested at .5000 to 6.0

Changing themes has no effect.

When I run emerald --replace a gray bar shows up but no color no borders and no buttons/info.

Well, usually either a decorator isn't running, nvidia settings need fixing or decoration plugin is disabled.

Could you pastebin the output of xprop for some window (well, some window that should have decorations)

Yes and no, as:
usually either a decorator isn't running, nvidia settings need fixing or decoration plugin is disabled.
EDIT: also, I have never seen this problem before - maybe try restarting the decorator ("kde-window-decorator --replace") and hopefully it will give some errors. Also, is there any errors from compiz (if you are running compiz in a terminal) when you start the decorator? (I guess not, from your first post, but just double checking)


I don't know what to suggest, apart from adding debug messages in decoration plugin, to ensure that it is starting (or to find what it is (and isn't) doing)

I disabled reflection under effects in CCSM and that solved it. No clue why but yeah. Problem solved.
