View Full Version : Grouped Window Preview

Hi!
The other day I add several windows of the same type (like 10 terminals), and they were grouped in the taskbar of GNOME.
I had the thumbnail plugin enable but I noticed that it only show the preview of one (the first to be opened) window.
I was wondering if it wouldn't be possible to make the window preview plugin aware of these grouped windows and then show the previews for all of them (when you hover over them), not only for the first one.
If you need me to elaborate, let me know.
Regards

+1, though maybe group should be stabilized first (if it hasn't already been)

Well, when I meant group it wasn't the group of Compiz, but the plain grouping of tasks from the GNOME taskbar.
Although probably this feature could also be used for grouped windows using the grouping plugin. (I don't use that plugin...)

Window previews for multiple windows that have been grouped into a single taskbar button, like this?

I'm not sure if that would be as straightforward as showing a preview for a button assigned to a single task, but it would be nice.

Yap, exactly like that (I was too lazy to make the screenshot)...
And yes, it is more tricky, but I think it should still be possible without too much work...
Anyway, it isn't that important, although this qualifies more as a "increased productivity" than eyecandy therefore, imo, it should be on the top of the TODO list :p

I spoke to maniac about this a while ago and he said it wasn't possible / would be hard to do. You might want to have him comment on this.

Well, he (maniac) was the one that asked me to put the feature request here. He even asked me to check a few things to see if it was possible (which I did and confirmed).
Anyway, let's see what comes out of this
