* Fixed a bug that could cause OpenGL to crash in certain cases, e.g. when running Counter-Strike under Wine.
* Further improved GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap out-of-memory handling.
* Fixed a bug that could result in incorrect PowerMizer state being reported.
* Improved nvidia-xconfig behavior when updating X configuration files without a "Module" section.
* Worked around a problem that caused function key presses on some Toshiba notebooks to result in system crashes.
Opinions, comments, etc. Has it fixed or broken anything for you?

I suppose this has to do with the new driver, but it is slightly off-subject in a way...
i've got myself a 7600gt, so plun, I'm curious how you currently have your config set up..
the configs in question is mainly the opengl and xvideo settings in nvidia-settings and
the General Options-> Display Settings in CompizConfig. I am mainly trying to decide which should control the Sync to VBlank settings and such.
right now i have nvidia-settings making the vblank choices, not CompizConfig. It seems to slow down
slightly. When I have the 3d plugin enabled, rotating the cube is sorta choppy, but not when it is disabled.
my current x.org config related to the nvidia driver in "Devices":
Option "DRI" "true"
Option "NoLogo" "True"
Option "RenderAccel" "True"
Option "TwinView" "True"
Option "AllowDDCCI" "True"
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
Option "BackingStore" "True"
Option "DamageEvents" "True"
Option "TripleBuffer" "True"
Option "UseEvents" "False"
Option "MetaModes" "nvidia-auto-select, nvidia-auto-select"
Option "NvAGP" "1"
Option "TwinViewOrientation" "Clone"
Option "TVStandard" "NTSC-M"
Option "TVOutFormat" "COMPOSITE"
I have all the required options for composite, dri permisisons and such (I just didnt want
to print out my whole xorg.conf)
in settings for CompizConfig, I have Sync to VBlank unselected (since I have nvidia-settings
making the VBlank decisions) and my refresh rate is manually set to 100.
I think I got this setup from going through many forum posts in the past.
How are your settings different? I'm gonna test out the new driver now.

I have it in direct rendering (via fusion-icon), and as soon as i set it to "Loose Binding" the chopping is gone. I shall see if I get any lockups.

- Coolbits enabled, default values for over clocking
- always uses ini backend, not gconf
- fusion-icon as starter (default settings)
- Sync to vblank, checked display settings-general
- I can "play" with new effects but normally uses less effects, not using 3D
- The only time I see the cube is with the screensaver... beautiful...:D
- Just want a beautiful desktop and also to have fun for a while with new toys.

Did installing this driver mess with anyone else's speed?
Whenever I load firefox web pages, or big pdf files, or put video on the screen everything gets really choppy, including the mouse and all compiz animations. I've been trying to figure out whats wrong but I can't. Its pretty unbearable (especially the cursor choppiness) so I've been using metacity.
Everything worked fine before.
I'm running latest git (just updated last night), with loose binding and indirect rendering enabled.
heres my x.org.

i dont think this driver supports the new Geforce9 cards does it?

Didn't affect my speed, but
When tray icons change themselves, now, the antialiasing around them is additive rather than being blanked before being drawn.
It's a really minor thing though.

My problems disappeared almost entirely with a fresh install of ubuntu. now i only have occasional stutter during high intensive cpu use programs. besides that everything is smoother and clearer than before with this driver. (no more black windows during magic lamp animation!)
