Hi,
I'm dieing to get my PC running linux correctly, I've got a Phenom 9500 and a ATI X1950 pro. I just cannot get the ATI drivers to behave as I have a wide screen monitor 1680 by 1050. Would changing the Distro make the slightest bit of difference? I'm currently using Ubuntu 7.10 I can get compiz running but the video playback is terrible and if i try to run glxgears it just dies! Any help would be much appreciated.
