I am wondering... is there any word on when the screensavers plugin will move from experimental to the main compiz fusion package?

I don't think anyone has taken over maintaining the plugin, so I'm doubtful it will be moved any time soon.

I know C. How closed is the compiz fusion development team? Could I join to do bugfixes on the screensaver plugin? Do you use CVS or SVN? I have some experience with both.

It's not particularly closed at all. Join the FusionDev e-mail list: http://lists.compiz-fusion.org/mailman/listinfo/dev

As for SVN vs. CVS. None of the above. The source code is maintained in a GIT repository.
