Oh really? Very interesting...
What exactly are you expecting as an answer on such a post?
Btw: I have no problems with screenlets using compiz. No offense meant, really no offense meant  !!

Please try to remove ~/.config/Screenlets and ~/.screenlets directories and unload Beryl's widget plugin. If that doesn't help try running screenletsd/screenlets-tray (whatever you normally use) in a terminal and post the output.

Hey all, what's happening here? Everyone of us has his own reasons why is he using compiz or beryl, and sometimes just filters them out... Well, this was more sudden than usual, but let's not extend this more, shall we?
High all,
iam running edgy right now with beryl svn...soon to be gone..unfortunatly..
i am also running the most recent screenlets which, up till 2 weeks ago, were running fine. Now, when I start them they become just another image on the dekstop. They are non functional. cannot access right click, and if I shut them down with the taskbar icon, nothing happens.. They do not disappear as if they were part of the wall paper.
I have added nothing that I normally dont add as an install.
I think these are all signs of one screenlet blocking all the others. You should try deleting all screenlets that need Internet connection manually from screenletsd.ses (when screenlets are not running) and restarting the program.
(Or follow Sorcerer, but be warned that way you'll lose all of your settings, e.g., Notes.)
Haven't you added WidescapeWeather recently? It was reported to block for some people.

All said - thanks, Sorcerer and Vasek ...
Everyone please remember - even though coz clearly says he doesn't like compiz (what we obviously see different), we should respect his opinion.

Well, the problem is that I can get very upset when people say they don't like this or don't like that, without giving any reason. Sorry, it sounds just so, hmm I don't know... And what's even more worrying is the fact, that without compiz he wouldn't have beryl. So saying I hate compiz and want to stay clear of it, gives me a bad feeling. Anyway, my guess was that it's a problem with beryl's widget-plugin and that's why my help was:
Btw: I have no problems with screenlets using compiz.
So it's logical to ask in beryl forums for a solution. But maybe you're right and it's a problem with wrong screenlets-settings.
@coz: I apology for being so rude. I've reacted a little bit to sensible and I really hope you found a solution to your problem. Sorry...

@rememo: Of course we could tell him that the beryl-devs just decided to (finally) officially base their "beryl-project" now on compiz as the window-manager (which is has it been before, anyway) and only add some plugins to have a "reason" for calling it the "beryl-project" ... but let's keep him the surprise :D ...
