Run ccsm and enable the Animations plugin. Once it's enabled, you can use the Open Animation tab to configure animations for opening windows, the Close Animation tab to configure animations for closing windows, and so on.

There's a list of different kinds of windows in each tab. You can configure different animations for each kind.

I'm not sure what you're asking. An image at least as wide as your display resolution?

I need a little more information about your situation before I can answer your question.

Can you please post the contents of the ~/.config/compiz/compizconfig/config file, and also the output of the following command?
ps ax | grep compiz

Tex, as your problem has *nothing* to do with the original thread, please start a new thread for your problem. Also include more details, such as your distribution and where you're making the changes to the compiz configuration.

It's probably a problem with the configuration backend.

Open ccsm, click on the Preferences link near the lower-left corner, then disable the option labeled Enable integration into the desktop environment. If that doesn't help, also change the Backend to Flat-file configuration backend.
