Hello:

I would like to use the "place" plugin to specify the viewport I would like a few programs to open on.

First I want gnome terminal to open on the first viewport. I use 4 viewports arranged in one row. The rule I use is "name=gnome-terminal" with the x and y viewports set to 0. I also have the rule "name=epiphany-browser" with x 1 and y 0.

But neither works. Any suggestions?

Well it should be name=epiphany, not epiphany-browser, but I'm using a 2x2 setup with Wall here, and the name=gnome-terminal rule works as expected for me. Are you sure that the gnome-terminal one isn't working?

Also, just to be absolutely certain: is the Regex Matching plugin enabled?

"class=Epiphany-browser" works here.

I am using debian so the epiphany browser is named epiphany-browser so as not to conflict with the game 'epiphany'

As pointed out by Fyda, I did not have Regex plugin enabled. The other plugins popped up a dialogue when it was necessasry to enable other pugins for functionality so I didn't bother trying to find any other required plugins. Thanks for the heads up
