Why isn't Gnome Compiz Manager part of Compiz ?

I know u just have to add the repo and install the software. Still, i think it makes all the sense in the world for Gnome Compiz Manager to be hosted under compiz and be bundled as a dependency.

Is there any reason behind the separation of these two ?

Compiz and Gnome are independent of each other.

We are in the process of setting up a repository for compiz related programs (compiz-extra) and this will probably be included in that.
