Hello I have a problem with windows previews. At the beginning they worked fine but suddenly they just stopped working. They don't appear unless I click and hold the button on the Panel or right clicking it.
I use Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon x86, with AIGLX, my chipset is Intel 855GM and the default Gnome Panels.

does this only happen if the window is minimized.
If so it is working fine, it is just a feature (or really the lack of a feature, due to the fact that X doesn't keep pixmaps from minimized windows, so compiz can't get a texture from it, so there ain't no preview to show (as I understand it...))
If not, then I don't know...

For me, the window can not be minimized, and has to be on the side of the cube that I am currently working on. I can not get previews for windows that are on other sides of the cube.
They come and go though. Sometimes they just decide to stop working all together, for a while. Then I find that they will start working again if I minimize then resume a few windows. Perhaps this is a bug?

It happens always, as I said, the preview appears only if I right click the panel button of a window or if I click and hold it. When I do the former, Window previews appear as they normally do unless I change the windows or focus or change workspace. Then they stop appearing.

That is a setting you are looking for. Make sure that CCSM->Window Previews->Taskbar->Taskbar only shows windows of current viewport is unchecked.
Should fix the issue where you could only see window previews for windows on the side of the cube you were on.
