Hey guys,
I'm stumped. I've been surfing the forums for hours and looking at every wiki I can get my hands on but nothing seems to answer my questions. Here's where I've been, where I'm at, and what I want to do.
I was trying Beryl, version 1.4 and the latest snapshots. I could not get it stable on my system: Suse 10.2, XGL, KDE 3.5.5, Nvidia prop drivers. So, since Compiz was stable right out of the box I thought that I'd try to get some of the Beryl-esque features from Compiz, ie. nice window decorations, 3-d effects for the cube and cube transparency. Problem is I can't seem to find a GUI style manager for Compiz that works with Suse 10.2.
As a side note, I followed the Compiz directions from the OpenSuse wiki, but I'm not getting anything from gtk-window-decorator. It doesn't seem to be running or else it's not running correctly. Can you guys help me brainstorm to get to a happy land filled with Compiz eye-candy? :D
Jonathan
EDIT:
BTW, running this command:
compiz --replace gconf & gtk-window-decorator --replace &
yeilds:
jonathan@linux-pos6:~> Window manager warning: Failed to read theme from file /opt/gnome/share/themes/Gilouche/metacity-1/metacity-theme-1.xml: Failed to open file '/opt/gnome/share/themes/Gilouche/metacity-1/metacity-theme-1.xml': No such file or directory
Window manager warning: Failed to load theme "Gilouche": Failed to open file '/opt/gnome/share/themes/Gilouche/metacity-1/metacity-theme-1.xml': No such file or directory
compiz: Trying '/usr/lib/libIndirectGL.so.1'
ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/lib/libIndirectGL.so.1' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
Not sure what all that is about
EDIT #2:
Hmmm....seems that Suse 10.2 comes with gconf2 and not the regular gconf. I tried the go-compiz tray icon and it couldn't load because of that . Ok, I'm stumped more.
