Compiz was mentioned by name in the changelog (http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_amd64_169.07.html)! Woohoo~, we're so important now! :D
I'm looking forward to testing the fix about scrolling ARGB drawables in Qt, as well. I've been having that problem since the first day I started using KDE4.

Compiz has been in there a few times now--same issue (VT switching). I wonder if it's really fixed.

Anyone else experiencing very faint streaks to the right of pretty much anything with this driver? I don't think I got that with the beta driver.
When I change from virtual terminals back to regular graphical screen the momentary garbage screen (random colors) has been fixed up since the beta driver. So at least some nice work on this new driver nVidia.
I'm using GeForce 6600.

Scrolling in KDE4 is indeed fixed, but now, random parts of alpha-mapped windows flicker into being transparent, then back to opaque, then back to transparent, and so on. ^^;
It's really weird. Look at this clock:
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j239/Deciare/ASHDKJHASDSGHSGHJAGAASDSAD/nvidia-169_07-kde4-clock.png
And this section of the taskbar:
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j239/Deciare/ASHDKJHASDSGHSGHJAGAASDSAD/nvidia-169_07-kde4-taskbar.png
I wonder if the nvidia driver will be in shape by the time KDE4 is released in January...
On the upper hand, I've had no problems with Compiz yet. :D
Edit: It seems that I may have spoken too soon. I'm also seeing weird transparency glitches with Compiz now.

Hey corel,
You are using the 179.07 driver on suse right?
thats the problem. That driver breaks compiz fusion on suse so you need to downgrade the driver.

We actually found a solution to it on an Italian(?) site. :)
My poor attempt at translating the simple instructions can be found at http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showpost.php?p=42938&postcount=11.

Thanks , got it to work with 169.07 with a python entry , thanks Deciare (http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=6225&page=2) , but I still get some weird artifacts at the top of windows , (looks similar to what Deciare is getting) they disappear or flash artifacts but only when full screen .
Might down grade , it did work great with older Nvidia driver .
Will Compiz-Fusion work with KDE 4 ?
Did a download of 4 today , buggy but nice , now I see it in KDE4 also , darn Nvidia .
Thanks for the info .

I think I'm getting those same "artifacts"... Are they affecting the title-bar of windows - like the titlebar has lost it's color depth (looks like 8 or 256 color, where it should be true-color 24bit)? It seems to be only affecting FireFox for me, but that is the only program I usually have at full screen. If I open another window (say, nautilus), or move my mouse cursor over where the minimise/maximise/close window icons are, then the title-bar restores itself to normal.
Also, I've been noticing that sometimes my title-bar "flashes" on/off when I put my mouse cursor on it

Seems like it might be a good idea

There's a thread on the nVidia Linux forum (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=104822) where people are reporting very similar symptoms, but it's not really active... Seems like it's not a common problem.

I upgraded to the new version the other day after upgrading Xorg to the latest version in Portage.
I was definitely seeing artifacts with the new driver. At first, the transparent taskbar had lots of little artifacts (like leaving the names of already-closed windows on the taskbar), but then when I tried to play UT, the result was awful; some models were white, others had huge white boxes around them, etc.
Needless to say, I downgraded. I'm quite happy again with 100.14.19. It's very smooth and I have yet to find any bugs with it.
