Hello,

I'm rather new to compiz, maybe my request can be solved and is no compiz feature request.

From my old wm I was used to have a mouse menu, opened by clicking somewhere on the desktop. Is there such a mouse menu in compiz or can you name a replacement? I also would accept an application dock if it is configurable in that it is becoming visible only when the mouse pointer touches the screen border.

I believe there was a desktopmenu plugin around here somewhere. A good place to look would be 'Community Announcements'

Point me to it and I'll see if I can make it work :) (You'll also have to give me an actual menu to launch :))

It is mentioned here: http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=748&highlight=desktopmenu

RYX says there it's fully working (April). I can't see a suitable plugin on compiz-fusion.org.

Hi SmSpillaz,

did you find something that helps me?

Merry Xmas, everyone.

Robert Carr and I discussed this at UDS, and Robert was going to take a shot at it when he got time, however, Robert seems to be preoccupied at the moment, as he hasn't been reachable for some time.

I wouldn't put too much faith in prior work in this area, to be frank...

But how do people start their applications, then?

Usually using their KDE or GNOME menus.

Hm. This is definitely turning out to be a feature request. There should be a solution for people who don't use sheepware like those mentioned. I know window managers as something bringing builtin mouse menus, docks, pagers, icon areas and maybe other gadgets. This is probably the reason why I didn't find usable standalone applications for those purposes.

I may consider installing the necessary parts of gnome. But this will end up in installing dozens of packages just to have a docking application.
