hi friends i hv installed ubuntu 7.10 'n' i'm still not able to get the 3d desktop environment for which ubuntu is famous 'n' i also very eager to check the 3d desktop of linux so i choose the ubuntu but i hv experienced with the vista aero:plz tell me from starting point i.e., installing the drivers of ati even installing compiz 'n' configuring it coz i newbie in the linux plz must help me: i'm installing the ubuntu again from the scratch: so be patient with me
my config is:

Intel D101GGC mobo with ATI Readon XPRESS 200 series inbuilt
128 mb with RAM sharing:o
512 RAM DDR 400 MHz
80 gb sata
15" Samsung sunc master 591s

Install the fglrx drivers via the restricted manager (I believe Ubuntu 7.10 should have prompted you to do that already), and then install the xserver-xgl package in Synpatic (Add/Remove programs). Now reboot and you should be able to enable compiz.

hello

have you tried going to the system menu -> preferences -> appearance -> visual effects

and enabling it there? :D

22 g i hv done i.e.,enable the visual effect:D but can't.now i 'm installing driver as told by adamk.then post the result
