Ok, I am ubuntu new-bee, and have installed compiz according to http://forlong.blogage.de/article/2007/8/26/The-best-way-to-install-Compiz-Fusion-on-Ubuntu-Feisty, and everything's working fine now. I am just wondering:
1. How can I add more animations (I read here that there are animations like "atlantis"...) which I don't have them in the CCSM.
2. How to make the windows be far from the cube when i spin it. The windows are stuck on the cube right now.

Thanks

what version of ubuntu are you running ??
Cause gutsy is the later version of ubuntu and I personally recommend that above feisty (which is what that repo is made for)

as for atlantis, unless you're willing to try and install git master (which I don't recommend, as there is more to it than just installing compiz-fusion, you have to get around the x11-xcb dependency too which is too much of a headache), then you won't be able to use that plugin for quite some time.....

though, if you are running gutsy, which has the 0.6 version of compiz/compiz-fusion installed by default, then you could use http://gitweb.opencompositing.org/?p=users/smspillaz/atlantis2-0.6;a=summary

and the windows far away from the cube is via the 3d plugin.
I'm not too sure about where to get a version of this plugin compatible with the version of compiz/compiz-fusion that repo provides (someone else should)

and I'm moving this to the installation section, configuration section is for specific configuration questions :D

sry I can't be of more help :)

I am using Ubuntu 7.04, and since I am new here, it is very hard now to install everything again and to make compiz to run properly.

understandable, I'm new to linux only a year and a half myself :D
though gutsy makes it very easy to enable compiz/compiz-fusion :D

hmm, you could try http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=3153

that will install the 0.6 version of compiz/compiz-fusion

(and I've edited the last post to say this, but incase you haven't seen that, I'll say again :))

and then you can install this version of atlantis http://gitweb.opencompositing.org/?p=users/smspillaz/atlantis2-0.6;a=summary

(if you decide to uninstall compiz/compiz-fusion and try from that repo, then I'll describe how to install that plugin)

you can use my makegutsyplugins script (I know but it works with feisty too ;))

It Installs:
3D Windows
Snow
Stars
Atlantis
Screensaver
Anaglyph
Wallpaper
Tile
Freewins
Fireflies
Photowheel
