I want to install compiz but I dont know which version I should select

you can install it from a repo or use my script to build 0.6.0 from source.
As far as repos go you have to main options:
1.Trevino's Git (latest, unstable) repo (though it's practically dead)
2. Amarath's repo, which is backported packages from Ubuntu 7.10, but it is missing some plugins and those can be installed using my makegutsyplugins script, it also has cursor theme support

oh actually if you use amarath's repo, you can use my *new* makegutsyplugins script (should work on feisty) :D
