Has anyone looked into triggering sound effects from Compiz actions, such as when minimizing/maximizing a window, cube rotation, initiating scale, etc.? I'm not sure the best way to integrate such options with a given desktop's system sounds. Also, would it make sense as a plugin, or just some applet listening to dbus events?
Just thinking out loud...

IMHO the system sounds are a way to take your attention on something you are not watching... If you are rotating the cube you know what you're doing, so why should compiz advertise of it??
maybe can be made a plugin about it, but i hope it will not be put in the compiz sources :)

I think it's not a bad idea. Something like that could be nice if it is used subtly. eg. enable/disable switcher or viewport switching. Or imagine a synchronized rain-drop sample for water. :)
I already tried to come up with something, but dbus doesn't send signals if compiz actions are trigger. And I can't find a way to listen for them in a plugin.
Maybe someone has an idea on how to accomplish that? Doing it for window state changes in gnome would be easy with libwnck and gstreamer. But that would get on my nerves pretty soon.

I personally think it would be best to extend the dbus-plugin to send signals for all actions - it would allow things like action-sounds (even without any new compiz-plugin) and offer much more additional possibilities.
