Hey, I just discovered that my shutdown and restart button are missing when I installed Compiz fusion.... I think

How do I get them back... I can't shut down my computer lol

hmm, don't know how to recover them, but you can shut down computer, just type in console sudo halt :D

After you log out, there should be shutdown and restart buttons/menus/links somewhere depending on the theme your display manager is using. Speaking of the display manager, I think GNOME will only offer you the restart/shutdown/other extra options if you're running GDM. Are you logging in using a different way than you used to (i.e. from a console, from a different display manager, or something else)?

If you are using Xgl, gnome session no longer thinks it controls the X server, and doesn't offer you the options to shutdown or restart. I'm not sure of the proper solution for this problem, other than to use the commands in a terminal.
