Hi!
Is there a way to tell compiz to zoom out the desktop permanently?

You see, i want to use a higher than native resolution on my laptop tft.
And whenever i set a higher resolution i have to pan around.

So i was thinking, i set the res to higher and let compiz zoom out, that way i can see the whole desktop on my screen...

You dont have to tell me the picture quality will decrease, i realize this but i've searched high and low for this feature and compiz + XGL might just pull this off!

The key is proper input transformation, which is coming (hopefully around the Xorg 7.3 timeframe)... Once that's settled then you'll have a whole host of cool options which won't take much work to implement, including what you're suggesting. You might notice today with zoom in that you can't interact with the content, only pan around. With input transformation you can much more easily and consistently map user actions (moving mouse, clicking, etc) to the 3D representations on the screen.
