I know this is prolly the 3131341 post about that bloody ccsm, but I've only managed to find help for ubuntu. Anyone having the same trouble when they try running ccsm using opensuse10.2?
Error:
File "/usr/local/bin/ccsm", line 45, in <module>
idle = ccm.IdleSettingsParser(context)
File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/ccm/Utils.py", line 229, in __init__

File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/ccm/Utils.py", line 225, in FilterPlugin
return not p.Initialized and p.Enabled
AttributeError: 'compizconfig.Plugin' object has no attribute 'Initialized'
I've followed the directions from:
http://en.opensuse.org/Compiz_fusion
I downloaded all the necessary files from the repo: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XGL/openSUSE_10.2/
(the file versions are different but they are all from the same repo. The tutorials didnt say anything about it.)
I've got it work and using some plugins..thanks to simple-ccsm..but I'm limited. Any ideas other than having to git the whole thing?
Thanks

I saw this problem on openSuSE for the first time (http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=5985) yesterday. Since you found support information for Ubuntu, you probably already know that it's commonly caused by mixing packages from different sources and/or different versions.
Since this problem is totally new to SuSE as far as I can tell, I wonder if the packages you're using are broken? May I see a list of all your Compiz-related packages and their versions? Have you ever installed Compiz or any part of it before on this computer? It doesn't hurt to be sure that it isn't a version problem.

I'm currently on opensuse 10.3, so I'm not sure how much good I can do... But what's the output of 'rpm -qa | grep compiz'?

python-compizconfig-0.6.0-1.2
libcompizconfig-backend-kconfig-0.6.0-1.2
compiz-fusion-plugins-main-0.6.0-2.2
compiz-fusion-kde-0.6.2-3.1
compiz-manager-0.0.1_git071019-13.1
compizconfig-settings-manager-0.6.9_git071204-4.1
compiz-kde-0.6.2-3.1
libcompizconfig-0.6.0-1.3
compiz-fusion-plugins-extra-0.6.0-1.4
compiz-emerald-0.5.2_git070825-1.5
compiz-emerald-themes-0.6.0-1.1
compiz-0.6.2-3.1
Again these were all downloaded from the same repo and I've installed compiz before on this laptop..o btw which is a dell latitude d820. I'm sure the laptop couldnt be the problem. Just wondering if that'll draw some more pictures.

I'm not so sure that they really were from the same repo. You have three packges in there that are build from git, and the others are from the 0.6.0 branch.
I'm not sure I can offer any help but to remove those three packages, make sure there's only one repo in your setup that offers compiz, and make sure you install compiz directly from that.

Let me ask you adam, how did you do your install? Did you use the 10.3 repo from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XGL/openSUSE_10.3/ Or did you build yours using git? Because all those files I got from that repo provided by the opensuse tutorial I posted earlier. I don't know where to get the right versions. :(

Hi latepenguin,
you could try asking on: http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=1415 - cyberorg is usualy good for all things suse related.

I think I've found the problem, as stated earlier the versions are different and it seems opensuse.org forgot to update ther 10.2 repos.
You can compare here:
10.2
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XGL/openSUSE_10.2/i586/
10.3
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XGL/openSUSE_10.3/i586/
(all these are from git)
Now I ask this, can I just use the ones from 10.3?
Thanks.

Edit: Yes, we came to the same conclusion. I don't know if the 10.3 versions are compatible with your system, though.

It looks like the openSuSE 10.2 repository may really be broken. Looking at the packages from the 10.3 repository (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XGL/openSUSE_10.3/i586/), they're all git versions. But most files from the 10.2 repository (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XGL/openSUSE_10.2/i586/) are still from the stable release.
This may be an issue you'd consider posting about in cyberorg's thread (http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=1415). If I'm not mistaken, he maintains the packages for openSuSE.

Then its settled :), for those just reading I'm making a post to cyberorg's thread about fixing the 10.2 repo.
Other then this the best bet is to UPGRADE TO 10.3 or use git to obtain the correct installs versions. :P (which I might consider depending on the outcome of cyberorg.)
Thanks all!

ccsm git package somehow found its way in 10.2 repo, I've removed git package, you will have to revert to 0.6.0 version which will be in there as soon as mirrors are synced.
