I hope this is not considered too off topic for you guys, I find you guys to be some of the most knowledgeable people I've come across as of yet.
So the ATI drivers are limited in 3d resolution, and I was having problems making them work on my 9600. So I was given an Geforce 5200 with 128 megs and bought a 7300GT with 512 megs.
What are the different versions of the drivers all about? Do I want to use the latest, or a specific version? The Compiz Nvidia Wiki section does not have anything under the "Tested OK", "Compatable" and "Tested FAIL" sections.
I noticed that the 5200 started doing strange things and slowing down when I enabled TwinView, and it would be very slow on compiz, so I'm figuring it just doesn't have the horsepower to run compiz.
I've noticed that TwinView just tricks linux into thinking my two 22" monitors are one large monitor. I find that certain dialog boxes (many actually) start in the "middle" of the desktop, which is in between my two screens. This is most annoying. How can I make it more like windows' extended desktop, which doesn't do this?
