Brilliant work guys,

I work as part of a team and constantly need to help other members with support issues. I have setup VNC on their computers so that i can have a different VNC connections open on each side of the cube. This then allows me to spin it around to monitor what their doing as well as give help. It works okay however you can't make the VNC sessions fullscreen without breaking the windows manager ( a vnc problem i think).

I think a pluggin to integrate this more would be fantastic It would be excellent in a team project environment or even in an Sys admin role where you are constantly working on different servers. For instance Side 2 = Host 2, Side 3 = Host 3, Side ... etc....

Without considering all the technical issues to take this one step further you could possibly then have some kinda virtual packaged applications that would allow you pass them backwards and forwards between peoples screens and collaborate more effectively.

For instance:

I am coding something or working on a document. It then needs to be seen by a different member of the team for them to add their thoughts. I simply drag it over to a different side of the cube and they see it appear on their screen. They can then add their comments / work and then simply drag it back to my side of the cube.

I don't know how much work would be involved or even if this is possible but it would provide some excellent team working capabilities. Maybe it would need integration with a system like NoMachines FreeNX.

Let me know what you think.

I will say that several versions of freenx or nx dont allways work with composite since you will be told that glx or some other extension isnt running even though it might be runnning on both clients

I have never really explored why you get this error since it Will probably be another 6 mo before we purchase nx server and start our migration at work

Allowing composite to work with netowrk protocols like this would make migrations easier since the improved desktop experience will help to offset most folks rejections toward change
