I searched the forums and plugins and didn't see this, but if I missed it feel free to correct me. It would be really cool to have a wallpaper manager plugin. Something that could do like a Mac or Webshots for the PC, and randomly change the wallpaper. I envision it having settings to control the frequency of change as well the speed of the transition. Of course it would need some cool fade from one to another or even fade to black first. Or if you like, it could just change the wallpaper. I would volunteer, but my programming skills consist of Hello World!. :-) I'm not sure if this is out of the realm of Compiz Fusion.

hello :D
there is this
http://gitweb.opencompositing.org/?p=fusion/plugins/wallpaper;a=summary
but I don't believe it has the effects you wish for, and you have to be running the latest compiz/compiz-fusion code to be able to use it.
and also you have to patch nautilus (if you're running gnome) to be able to have different wallpapers on all the sides of the cubes (without hiding all the icons) and that isn't an easy task.... (not sure about KDE)
also, this is probably out of the scope of compiz itself and would be more suitable to a third party program
though, agreed, this would be nice :D

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to check out the screenlet, because I use the calendar screenlet already, so that may be a good solution.
Some of my other searches revealed wallpaper-tray

I haven't tired it out yet, but it looked like what I was looking for.
Thanks :-)
