hello
for those out of Australia, we had a federal election, which is pretty much just between the liberals (John Howard, who was our prime minister) and labour (Kevin Rudd). There is other parties but they have pretty much no media spotlight and appear as non-existant.......
anyway.....
damn Labour won .....
I don't like labour
(don't like liberals either, but relatively liberals are better)
I hate politics....
any other Aussies dissatisfied with the outcome....
??

I'm annoyed in general~! Let's rant!
... But I got nothing. Give me some context. ^^; What's wrong with the Labour Party?

I don't understand it enough to explain why I don't like them
I just don't......
simplistic and semi-childish, but oh well.....

I wouldn't have minded if they had won by a few seats but I'm pissed off at the following:
a) They won by like 20 seats. WTF?
b) ALL the media was ALWAYS biased towards labour. Examples
Sky News : Labour is more positive
9 News : During the debate, the negativity rating was going up when Howard was saying __positive__ things and EVEN WHEN HE WASN"T EVEN TALKING!
Like every other newspaper was all like KEVIN07 IS TEH CATCHY SLOGANZ! LOLZ!
KEVIN07 was ALWAYS on the front of YouTube
They were picking on Peter Costello, who is a good guy and I seriously don't know why everyone *hates* him.
Rudd has $150million in the bank. Anyone? *Cough*
It seemed that whenever the media praised Kevin, they used the EXACT SAME STYLE as his election campaign. So yeah. I'm pissed off at generally how unfair this election was. Oh well. I'm looking forward to our promised high-speed broadband network for the future (TM) (http://www.kevin07.com.au/fresh-ideas/education-revolution/better-broadband-better-schools.html)
HAHA KMAIL That is a direct ripoff of....

yeah, stupid media
all they focus on is the two big parties, as if the other parties don't exist....
and during the election campaign all that happened was Howard would announce something and Rudd would just copy him and do the same...
and now we have Labour governments at _every_ level
.......
as for the education thing, Rudd's version of a education revolution is to give a computer to every student...
wtf is that gonna do ??
yeah it'd be nice, but imho children shouldn't learn everything and be completely reliant upon a computer, that's just stupid....
hopefully he gets rid of OBE.......
anyway, enough rant for one post...

What a mess, eh? To me it seemed as though the people of Oz blamed the Federal government for the mess the (Oz) states are in and forgetting that the states were Labor run - not Liberal.
as for the education thing, Rudd's version of a education revolution is to give a computer to every student...
wtf is that gonna do ??
Now K.Rudd must sign the Kyoto agreement - because all those extra computers needing power are going to add to the Greenhouse problem
What is it with the Australian people? We just get out of the mess that was left by the previous Labor government and the unions, start making some real forward progress and then BAM!
The real problem with our economy (re: interest rates) is that there are some nut-jobs who insist on living beyond their means and put everything they own on credit without considering, or simply ignoring, the consequences. The cost-of-living is going up because of fuel prices (can't be helped), but the impact would be less if we lived within our means.
I can only quote Yoda for this and the Australian people...

I'm annoyed and I'm like a .... 15 hour plane ride from Australia!
I'm assuming OBE does not mean Order of the British Empire! In the U.S., it means Outcomes Based Education and is only slightly less harmful than child molestation. Even if they believe in it, no educator dare says the phrase out loud anymore, unless they immediately turn and spit.
There is a tremendous push here to put a laptop on every desk. But early adoptors are finding out that provided no miracles. Schools bought hundreds of laptops with no plan on what to do with them. They never budgeted for the replacement cycle or the necessary staff support and training.
I guess the streets are paved with gold in Oz. They better be, if you head down that road.

lol, it's outcome based education here as well...
as my TEE english teacher said, in theory it does have some merit but it's complete bs when put into practise.....
what's worse is that is was pushed into the system even though it was obviously not ready...

it's gonna be interesting to see how that works out for us...

He was on the backbench in that video - so at least 6 years ago (I think). I'm pretty sure he was promoted to the Opposition frontbench after the 2001 election when he was appointed Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs.
