Compiz Fusion play nice with Core 2 Quad?

I remember a while ago reading a post here where someone was having problems with Compiz and someone else suggested disabling the multicore aspect of his cpu.

I'm considering upgrading my computer soon. I really like Compiz Fusion and would like to know if buying a Core 2 Quad (or even Core 2 Duo) would be a mistake.
