Here's an example of what happens:

I'm using the KDE window decorator. Some times that funny part is completely gone--just the shadow, other times it's what you see. I'm using the "Polyester" deco from the kcontrol dialog.

How to reproduce it: I'm not entirely sure. Some windows have it when they are created, others it happens after minimizing and restoring several times.

I'm on Ubuntu Gutsy, running from Compiz GIT (11/02/07) on an nVidia system (8400 GS)

Hi,

I'm experiencing the same since some time, i think it is since the last (non-git) official updates from the ubuntu repositories. Symptoms are:
- right half of titlebar is missing sometimes (but the shadow is still intact)
- minimize/restore/maximize/close buttons are black

Things seem to be reverted to normal when:
- the window is resized
- the window is maximized

But not when
- a window is moved
- a window is minimized and then restored

Apparently only when the window physically is changed, its titlebar gets redrawn. Would make sense.

I now suffer the same problem since i moved from shame's stable repository ...

Ok:
0.6.2-shame (from shames freshly discontinued stable repository )

Not Ok:
quite every other version including:
0.6.3~git20071208.25941d14-1_i386 (official debian repository)
1%3a0.6.99+git20071222-shame-0_i386 (shames unstable repository)

Btw, i found a view additional issues:

*) it's not only part of the title bar that is missing, also parts of the border are missing. for example the left window border usually misses a bit at the bottom

*) it seems as if it's quite always the same height and with of the area where the window decoration is drawn and where it is missing. Unfortunately i couldn't identify anything that might help debugging.

*) windows also don't change active / inactive colors. In my default kde color sheme this means the inactive window keeps it's blue title bar (at least that part that is actually drawn) instead of changing to grey. They do become slightly transparent tough

*) as mentioned by other posters, after resizing the window, the issues go away. whole window decoration is drawn correctly and color changes correctly when being active or inactive.

This thread is a duplicate of that one (http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=5537), and nobody seems to care about it :(. Well, that's a pity, since this bug just make most of the windows look ugly. Thus depowering all the fancy über-eyecandyness of compiz and its appeal upon Vista users that could have been converted to GNU/Linux. Serious bug imho :D.

Hâlp, anyone ?

I assume here is just not the right place to report bugs...
... i opened a bug report: #730 (http://bugs.opencompositing.org/show_bug.cgi?id=730)

did some testing again.

got a tip to start the window decorator with this options:
kde-window-decorator --opacity 1.0 --no-opacity-shade --no-active-opacity-shade --replace

however, no impact on this bug.

updated to version 1:0.6.99+git20080110-shame-0
however, no impact on this bug.

I've this problem too with emerald since a time so I think it's more a problem from compiz than kde-decorator program.

The bug (http://bugs.opencompositing.org/show_bug.cgi?id=730) is fixed now.
