I'm having some problems with compiz (new to it; running on Gutsy Gibbon) and I'm trying to follow the instructions in the FAQ and elsewhere, HOWEVER:
When I open a terminal session, it's white text on white background. I know it's functional because it can type "exit" and the window closes. But I can't see what I'm doing!
Help?

nVidia card. I don't know how to check for driver version; I'm still too new to Ubuntu.
All I know is that when I disable compiz, the terminal works fine. When I enable, it's white on white.

Maybe you have some weird theme set up in emerald and so when compiz pops up, emerald takes over the decoration and makes a weird looking terminal, try to check also the theme used in emerald.
You can always change the terminal's settings to other color in the terminal's:
Edit/profile
then change what u want.
Cheers.

No theme. I just did the install and that's all.

Augh. Painfully obvious. I was so unnerved by the invisible typing I completely neglected to look at the menu. I'm still pretty noob to the whole Ubuntu environment. I knew I could set colors from the command line, but I couldn't see the command line and so I was stuck on that.
I'll give it a try, and thx.

Nope. All other windows are both hunky and dorey.
