View Full Version : switcher+fade not working quite right

I am using a default compiz with the default Ubuntu animations (fade for window change). When I launch the switcher (alt+tab) the selected window is raised to the front, but then when I release alt a weird thing happens: for a split second my previous active window is shown, then it quickly fades into the new one.
This looks really out of place, I think there is no reason why the old window should even appear.

That's normal, because the switcher doesn't actually bring the window to the front - it's just a preview.
If it annoys you, just disable Bring To Front in the Application Switcher plugin

Could it? I'm fine with the window being brought to the front (even if just as a preview), I just want it to stay there when I let the switcher go. So disabling "bring to front" doesn't give the desired results.

Again: the switcher is for preview only. So no, it can't actually bring the window to the front.
The whole bringing to front in the switcher is pointless anyway IMHO.
I don't know if it would be possible to make it behave like you want. You could file a feature request if you like (but note that it's a Compiz plugin - not Compiz Fusion).
