Its hard to say since the site is down. All I know is that David is interested in FDO specs and he probably is interested in making sure that Compiz follows them.

This is the spec that we are following for Compiz. Hopefully everything will be implemented. This spec is referred to as EWMH, and it is most things that were not defined in the ICCM spec. The spec actually seems like it is not quite finished yet, but its an ongoing thing.

If you look at the ML you will see EWMH mentioned fairly often.
