Hi,

Got Compiz working very smooth, cube is spinning like crazy, and windows are wobbling like you've never seen before... but... it seems that in this world of eyecandy the important functionality is lost:

1) scrolling
2) moving the cursor in a text document

both actions max out (100%) my - not so slow - AMD Turion 2GHz processor! Also the Graphics card should be able to pull it off: ATI X700, 128MB. I am running Ubuntu Edgy, with the open source radeon driver, and AIGLX.

Any ideas?

I have the same problem. I am also running compiz on AIGLX. I have a Radeon mobility X700 video card.

Same here.
However, it's is perfectly smooth with XGL.

RIght,
but XGL has other major disadvantages, such as the WACOM tablets not functioning properly.

To be able to run it under AIGLX would have my strong preference. And to be honest, this should be possible right? So, the question is: is it a config issue, driver issue, or something else?
