I tested blurdemo today and it just draws a black box where the blur region should be.

Sending a user-defined region works great, but it's also black.
I tired changing the plugin order and all blur settings, but that didn't help.

Has anyone tried this, yet?

blurset and blurdemo work perfectly here.

Plugins loaded (in order):
gconf,dbus,png,svg,decoration,water,blur,wobbly,fa de,minimize,move,cube,rotate,resize,switcher,scale ,zoom,place

Using compiz 0.3.7 git checkout and NVIDIA tfp-mode on NV43 6600 GT.

Maybe you got no shader support with your board?
Are you using NVIDIA, AIGLX or XGL?

blurdemo worked perfectly for me too. I couldn't get blurset to work though :(

You need to make sure you have this option checked

/apps/compiz/plugins/blur/screen0/options/alpha_blur

Does normal blur work if you check this option?

/apps/compiz/plugins/blur/screen0/options/focus_blur

hmm, strange. I have a NVIDIA FX5200 (shader supported).

Focus blur and pluse work as expected, so i doubt it's a problem with my gfx-card. If I start blurdemo without alpha_blur checked it's transparent, but when i activate alpha_blur the background becomes black (like it would be if you use only a rgb colormap). With blurset it's the same. I tried it with gnome-terminal, but the background also just becomes black.

mikedee, what doesn't work with blurset?

blurset actually works perfectly (for what it does)

The problem is tha blur plugin is not doing alpha blur on the windows that I select. It is working on blurdemo which is strange.
