I finally got it working on my old dell (4500 w/ 256 ram and geforce 5200) and it works great no lag at all and my computer's speed is about the same. I would just like to know how to install the themes and a dock. Does anyone have any suggested plugins? I am using Ubuntu 7.10.

Is a dock for Ubuntu. When you see code with a dollar sign to the left, don't put the dollar sign in too ^^

Download:
git clone http://people.freedesktop.org/~krh/akamaru.git

akamaru is the engine for the kiba-dock and is getting fairly old.
EDIT : hmm, recent changes to it, interesting...

in terms of docks, you have three main choices

gnome-dock http://www.gnome-dock.org/trac

avant-window-navigator https://launchpad.net/awn

kiba-dock http://www.kiba-dock.org/

it's hard to say which one is better than the other, as they are all fairly good, and it's just a matter of opinion....

also what do you mean by "themes" in your first post ?? themes for what ?

... :D

avant-window-navigator https://launchpad.net/awn

Do I have to install the "Avant Browser" to use that dock?

kiba-dock http://www.kiba-dock.org/

Kiba-Dock Site says the SVN Repository won't be updated anymore, or are they updating the new SF Repository? (They said they moved to a new SF Server, and I want to know if they're updating that new repository... since with a new SF server, you get a new repository, understand?)

also what do you mean by "themes" in your first post ?? themes for what ?

... :D

As said in spyker's last post, he wants it integrated with emerald.

ummm...I don't use this dock anymore (not enough time to play with any dock :() but I assume they still update the SF server....

just not the old svn server they had before moving to sourceforge....

actually, he just wanted to know how to have any emerald theme http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=4896

I noticed I can't get a dock out of any of those except for the one I mentioned o_O

1.] Kiba Dock has no packages, they took them all down when they moved.
2.] Avant Window Navigator Manager can't open in Xubuntu
3.] Gnome Dock doesn't have a download page o_O

Ugh, source compiling is a very ugly way of installing things. >>; I tried doing the steps mentioned on the Avant dock page in Xubuntu, and it all installed fine. But as I said, the Dock management program won't open up.

Also, lots of times, the makefile (for a lot of source-only programs I've come across) usually gives an error like "Could not execute make" or stuff like that. I'd rather have the debian package (Since I use Xubuntu)

Ugh, source compiling is a very ugly way of installing things.

you should _very_ feel lucky your using a binary distro then :D :p
I tried sabayon linux for a while, which is a source based distro...
wow, apt-get is sooo much better for those without the time....
(though I'm sure emerge = better, faster system :D)

you should start a thread in their forum about that...

weird....
I use source for a few things, (compiz/compiz-fusion included), never really had much problems....

Your distro isn't set up right if you get make errors like that... Considering My WHOLE system is compiled by source :)

Not mine, and I'm talking about programs that were made availible for linux, but were originally made for windows. Some programs I download won't even execute much less make. This includes Netscape Navigator (The readme for it says I should go to the navigator folder IN the folder I extract, which isn't possible... since it doesn't exist.)

actually sabayon in binary ;), even though the packages are built from source.

really ??

either way, emerge seems too much of a hassle (for my needs anyway :D)

If it was built from source, it would take a lot longer to install :D
