Hello,
I have originaly disabled menu icons in Gnome, by using "System->Preferences->Menus & Toolbars" and deselecting "Show icons in menus".
Now that I have installed Compiz, apparently Compiz overrides these settings by its own settings. Does anyone know if there is a way to disable menu and button icons in Compiz? So that you will have text only buttons and menus.
Help is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

I can't reproduce this problem in my Ubuntu Gutsy or Arch/GNOME 2.20 test environments. The option at System->Preferences->Appearance->Interface->Show icons in menus applies both with and without Compiz running, and I don't see any way to remove icons from buttons in either case.

What kind of menus and button icons?
Usual buttons ('OK' , 'Cancel' etc.) the icons in the buttons were usually disabled, but now that I have Compiz installed and they are all enabled again. Is this by any chance something that needs to be configured in Emerald ?

I am using Debian (Lenny), the icons used to be disabled when ever I chose the above option.

Those kind of buttons aren't exactly configurable through Emerald's GUI System, you may have to delve into the code itself.

Hey megabot,
i am running ubuntu / gnome/ compiz fuison here.
I just tested the "System->Preferences->Menus & Toolbars" AFTER compiz fusion was enabled and disabled show icons and it works fine here.
Try enabling that in gnome BEFORE you start compiz fuision, then after compiz fusion is enabled , try disabling show icons in menus.
on a personal note...I didnt like the no icons :)
