stigmata

I'm having a lot of problems trying to play videos using KDE + Compiz Fusion. I'm using MPlayer primarily, but I have similar issues in Kaffeine and Totem, except for Xine, strangely enough.
Basically, if I fullscreen a video, when I attempt to exit fullscreen, the screen freezes on that frame of the video, but the audio continues playing and the program thinks that it's no longer in fullscreen mode (if I right click, the box next to normal size will be checked, and I have to exit). If it was Kaffeine or Totem, opening them again will result in a lack of window decorations for only that window, and I have to run "kwin --replace" and run them again to restore window decorations to them. Most of the time, I'll get an error message saying that kwin has crashed, and I have to log out and back in to get everything back to normal. Simply opening and closing MPlayer also causes kwin to crash. Video playback works perfectly fine without Compiz Fusion.
I tried following the directions here: http://thedarkmaster.wordpress.com/2007/08/10/solving-video-playback-problems-in-compiz-fusion-beryl/ but that didn't solve any of my problems in any of the players, except for Xine which worked without any configuration at all, except for some minor issues during video playback (green artifacts on the left). I'd prefer to get MPlayer working, though.
