It is me, or the immediate next versions of Compiz (3.8? ...4.2?) will be the most important upgrade so far? :D

If input redirectrion gets finalised at xdevconf then yea, it could be massive - once that is done there can be work started on a whole load of things popel have been asking for.

Here's hoping :)

There are a few other things going into core at the moment which will make a lot of things possible. Its not just IR but that will really help a lot.

There are a few things I know for sure, 0.3.4 is very different from 0.3.6 which will be very different from 0.3.8. 0.5 will almost certainly have good support for input redirection and probably a software cursor.

The next round of development (ie 0.5 and 0.6 branches) will be very interesting :)

BTW - IR is already working, what they are going to finalize (hopefully :)) at Xdev is how it can work so that the redirection could work on any shaped window, not just basic transformations. The IR that is being planned will allow you to screw your window up into a ball and you will still be able to work on it (if thats what you want :))
