I recently erased my drive and re-installed Ubuntu 7.04 and then Compiz 0.5.2 and everything ran great. Just the other day I noticed that the desktop cube related plugins were not working. Everything else works just fine though. I can even still switch between my multiple desktops with the switcher on the taskbar (but it seems to minimize open windows instead of actualy switching desktops, but it still works..)

Also, I just move my Ubuntu PC over my my desk with my Mac and they are going to share the same Dell 24" monitor that goes up to 1920x1200. Compiz runs fine, but now I'm getting that "black window" Nvidia bug a lot more frequently...as in I canot open more than one window without gtetting it. Is there any kind of work around for this? (Nvidia GEForce 6800 Turbocahce)

And least important, but sill odd is that the updates for Compiz are always in my update manager. I install them with no errors and as soon as it's done it reminds me that I need to installed it...and I just did! Whats the deal with this?

hello

The cube not working could just be that you don't have the right settings
open up the ccsm (assuming you have that installed) and make sure the desktop cube and rotate plugins are enabled, and that you have the desired number of horizontal virtual workspaces in ccsm -> General Options -> Desktop Size

as for the black window bug, what nvidia driver are you using ??
(I suggest using the 100.14.19 driver (the latest one, which is found here http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_100.14.19.html)

and as for the updates, what repo did you use to install compiz?

Hey C.Barr,
In my opinion the newest nvidia driver is not the best suited at this point for fusion however the 9755 is far less buggy but needs more settings put into xorg. If you are planning a dual monitor set up then the newest driver is out of the question. It cannot deal with dual monitors well and the video issues are magnified.
If you plan on playing videos full screen do not use the most recent driver, if videos are not what you are after then the newest may suit your needs.
The black screen happening more with the larger monitor resolution is just that apparenlty. It is taking up far more resources now on the larger monitor than on the smaller one so the black window will show up more.
If you like i can show you my xorg. it has many settings you can test for you system to get rid of , or certainly improve the black window bug.
If you have enabled desktop cube and rotate cube and they still are not working after making sure that General options desktop size is set to horizontal virtual size =4, and the other two are set to ONLY 1,. and the desktop workspace switcher is also set to ONLY one, then I have no answer for that.
For the issue of updates telling you that there are still updates, that is a specific bug with Amaranth's repo which he says he cannot fix.
I am assuming this is ubuntu with gnome as the desktop environment, if not let me know exactly what you are running. :)
