Not really an issue, I just think there's a way to address this in compiz.

I'm using the cube and I usually put pidgin on one of them. The problem is..is there any way I can be notified if a new IM comes in? There used to be a title wave effect that did it...but rain isn't working well on my aiglx (and cube is just slow on compiz, transparent cube on beryl was as fast as a solid one, which is what I used since u could see everything at once).

The panel shows when it updates (but I kinda made the opacity at 0 since i don't like the panel..I'm using kiba..and I can't find a way to do it in that either).

Any ideas?
thanks.

Have you tried configuring the Message Notification plugin in Pidgin? If Kiba-Dock is like AWN, then maybe it will show some effect for the icons of IM windows if you set Pidgin to set them as "URGENT". Then again, maybe not.

Alternatively, there's also the Mumbles project (http://mumbles-project.org/), which can show compositing-aware notifications for Pidgin (among other apps). Perhaps that may be of interest to you.

Hmmm, the URGENT setting doesn't seem to do much with compiz-fusion. And kiba-dock does have a gaim plugin...but no pidgin. So I guess I'll just wait until there's support.
