I have had compiz on my kubuntu feisty machine for quite some time. I have never figured out how to have the cube to show up... even though it is enabled. I know this is probably kind of dumb... but aside from having the plugins enabled, what needs to occur for the cube to work?
Everything else seems to work, so I assume I am just overlooking something. Expo for example works fine.

firstly can you change the thread title in advanced edit (of the first post :D) to something like
"how do I make the cube show up ?"
helps with organisation and forum search
thnx :D
as for your question (which should go into the configuration section, I'll get one of the mods with powers in that section to move it for us) go into ccsm (just type ccsm at the command line) and see wether the cube plugin is enabled....
if it isn't then enable it
if it is enabled, go into the ccsm -> general options -> Desktop size -> and set horizontal virtual size to a number other than one
if that doesn't work, see if you have the rotate plugin enabled as well, and play around with the settings there ...
good luck :D
don't be afraid to ask further questions if necessary :)

Ahhhh... it was that simple... and it's so cool, and useful, especially when used with expo to drag and place windows to other desktops.

gotta love simple solutions :D
another cool effect is the transparent cube settings for the cube plugin
combined with the gears or atlantis plugins
and blur set to blur type=Desktop
:D
