I'm using the latest Compiz packages from Treviņo's Ubuntu Feisty repo (http://3v1n0.tuxfamily.org/dists/feisty/eyecandy/), and I'm getting some weird issues with focus. The main manifestation of the problem is that the Deskbar input field appears below all other windows, rendering it useless. I've also noticed that upon logging in, my gnome-panel does not appear unless I first click on the desktop. Hopefully someone has some info.

Same happens with me. Both the disappearing gnome-panel (immediately upon log-in only) and the window focusing issues.
Can you check whether you are seeing these other symptoms as well?

hey dkbg,
i am also using trevino's repo for fusion .
if you go under ccsm....general options...focus and raise behavior and in the "Focus prevention" field if there is something already there remove it and leave it blank, or type in "none" without the quotes.
let me know if this solves all or some of the problem.

Yeah the focus issue has been coming and going with the various compiz updates I've had from Treviņo's Ubuntu Feisty; As yet I can't find a fix for Deskbar other than using the Compiz fusion icon in the tray to temporarily switch to Metacity.
I occasionally see it with the gnome panels on boot, but restarting X with Cntrl-Alt-backspace always fixes that.
cheers
