Hey,

Today I installed Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon Beta with Compiz Fusion. Before I had Debian Etch with Beryl. I rotate my desktop cube via clicking on the mouse wheel and draging the cube.
With Debian Etch Beryl (I think something around 0.2) this was only possible if you click onto the desktop, but with Gutsy Gibbon's Compiz Fusion this is also possible if you click onto a window.
This leads to problems with copy & paste I couldn't yet solve. For example it's not possible any more to mark a text for example in gedit, then switching to a terminal and pressing the mouse wheel in ordner to paste it, because immediately Compiz Fusion begins to rotate my desktop cube.

Is there any solution for this issue? I felt comfortable with the way it was under Debian with my Beryl 0.2, so maybe there's a way to let Compiz Fusion only rotate the cube if you press the mouse wheel outside a window?

Thank you for your help!

It sounds like you have set the Initiate binding in the Rotate Cube plugin. This binding is designed to take effect when pressed at any location on the screen, including inside windows; so, ideally, it was meant for keyboard shortcuts or extra buttons on a mouse (eg. mice with more than 5 buttons) -- essentially, anything that would not conflict with normal functions.

I would strongly recommend resetting that binding, so that there is no mouse binding.

Now, to get the desired behaviour, there is the Viewport Switcher plugin (in the Desktop category of CCSM). Its default settings allow you to rotate the cube by middle-clicking outside of any windows. This should achieve what you want. Please try enabling that, and see if it solves this issue.
