It would be nice to make also an 'official' 0.6 version of libcompizconfig and of all other progs, inclusive whats fitting to compiz 0.6 without the need of things like make clean or aclocal/automake/autoconf/autogen.sh

Possibly there happened any error with the version for the release, and this may be verified.

I'm almost daily compiling the snapshots and making packages, and this worked very good in the last time. With the snapshot of yesterday morning this still was the case, too.

But when I compiled the release, then the package of compiz becomes 20% smaler, after subsequent instalation and compilation of libcompizconfig that get size almost zero, and compiling the new/yesterdays snapshot for plugins-extra becomes appr. the half of the normal size. And nothing worked more.

Then I repeated that with the snapshot of Oct 1, 14:40 (time here) what corresponds to the release, and the same happened. As a contercheck I recompiled the snapshot of the morning, which resulted again in a normal, working program. Thus Im afraid there gone something wrong with the afternoon snapshot of compiz and with the version released as 0.6, and this may be checked carefully.

Due to lack of XCB-enabled xlib, I have to wait for Fedora 8 release - but that's due in Nevember... I'm curious...
Er... does kagesenshi provide a package for Fedora 7 already? Since I have a modified xlib-rpm lying around somewhere... :)

nope, he doesnt... :( (yet???)

Due to lack of XCB-enabled xlib, I have to wait for Fedora 8 release - but that's due in Nevember... I'm curious... Compiz 0.6.0 is based upon compiz 0.5.2, so it does not require xlib-xcb. The branch was made before the compiz fusion 0.5.4 release (which really should have been called 0.7.0 IMO). To understand compiz's crazy versioning, you can think of git master as being 0.7.x because that's essentially what it is.

There will soon be a Compiz Fusion 0.6.0 release (the first stable release), it just has not happened yet. Compiz 0.6.0 and the forthcoming Compiz Fusion 0.6.0 release are essentially 0.5.2 plus bugfixes and backported features from git master. There have been no major compiz core API changes.

You can use the xcb packages from the FC8 (development) repos for compiling with Fedora7. I'm using it now without any problems with compiling from the latest "bleeding-edge" git sources.
