Just wanted everyone to know that Nvidia has released a new driver that may fix the BWB among many other bugs. This release should also work with the new xorg. Please test and let us know if your BWB "black window bug" is fixed.

Just installed the nvidia driver, and while it is indeed faster, I seem to have a strange bug in expo:
When I click on a window to move it, the whole expo thing (desktops, reflections, etc) disappears, leaving only the background gradient... When I release the mouse button , however , it reappears , and the move is registered, only not shown.
This does not happen with 'immediate moves' set to on.
Also, sometimes the zoom in/out animation in expo makes the whole thing disappear again, and reappear when it has finished.

Very weird.
Anyone else having this problem?

EDIT: ops sorry, should have searched more thoroughly.. It's a recent compiz update thing, presumably fixed in git.

50 openoffice documents open at the same time and not a single black one :D

previously my limit was 7

I'm so happy this problem seems to have finally been fixed :D

(though I doubt it will reach their ears from here, thankyou Nvidia ! :D)

Not for me, the drivers seem a little bit improved, but I still have the black windows!
My card is a Geforce FX5200 64mg.

My friend will give to me a Geforce FX5200 128mg, I hope this issue will disappear!

Hey guy's please list what video card model and vram you have when posting. This way we can start tracking where there is still a problem.

Thanks

I'm running compiz on dual screens... Sometimes when I rotate the cube(s) it flickers shortly. Not sure if it's a driver issue, or because I upgraded compiz...

No more Black Windows. I can finally use --loose-binding with no problems. GREAT !!!

I've noticed an slight performance increase, but black windows still appear. With a Gainward 8600GT 512MB DDR3 I was able to open 47 fullscreen (1680x1050, well 1680x1026 disconunting the gnome menu bar) firefox windows. The 48th window was black.

With my FX5200 64 meg, I am able to open 7 windows not even fullscreen! to have one black!

But your card is so better then me!

Just tried it myself. 14 firefox fullscreen windows makes the bug appear. I don't really care though cose i'm never gonna run into that problem doing the usual stuff... Never gonna have so many of'em opened.

6600GT 128MB: Not yet run into any black windows like before yet.

One big issue with the new drivers though is that XVideo playback has huge problems and causes artifacts or even X Server crashes.

It appears FX5200 series still got the same BWB whereas all cards above see improvements.

I'm assuming this will not work with my laptop's GeForce 4 420 Go, am I correct? If not, just disabling loose binding gets rid of the black window bug here.
