View Full Version : Putting terminal on cube

I wanted to put a semi-transparent terminal on my cube. I found that something from devilspie does this with workspaces, and it works ok, but in compiz i have one workspace and it is just stretched out over 4 screens.
I found that you can change the wallpapers on your screens.
Now, the only thing i want is to have a terminal window that i set up with a given profile permanently on my fourth cube space. Is there any simple way to do this? I can get it to work on the 1st face only.
Any help is appreciated. And by the way, i only took the linux plunge about a month ago, so i am a total newb. So take it slow and talk to me like a 4 year old.

I do have multiple monitors, but the last time i tried to get both working it didn't work. ANd i spent a lot of time trying to fix the damage i did.
BUt thanx a lot, those instructions were great. The same thing with a little more explanation is here:

hey runescape1143,
i am going to assume you are on ubuntu fesity. My suggestion is to get rid of of devils pie completely.
i am attaching the tilda with true transparency .deb package.
If you are not on a debian based system then download and compile tilda.
I use this on dual monitor set up.
once set up you can alt+click to drag anywhere on the screen and with the keybinding it will snap back to its origianl position .
This works extrememly well for my needs.
The only problem here was getting this package uploaded. The forum does not recognize tar.gz nor .deb packages so I put the .deb package into a folder named tilda and zipped it.

I used that and it was fine. Remember to disable the scrollbar when you create the new terminal.
