Yes, you heard me! There's a repository available for ubuntu edgy and dapper that offers the latest nvidia (9746) and ati (8.30.9) drivers. Check the repository info here:

Yeah, it is Alberto's unofficial repository for bleeding edgy nvidia (and now ati) drivers. I use those nvidia drivers; the problem is that compiz is ridiculously slow compared to how it was under XGL.
