In Metacity it's possible to move the iconified windows in the workspace switcher from one workspace to another. I miss that (a lot) in Compiz.

Also in Metacity, you could send a window to the next, the previous or a specific workspace by right-clicking on the titlebar or on the window button on the panel. Very useful.

In Compiz, you can rotate the cube, dragging the active window with. Try Ctrl+Alt+Shift+L/R, I'm not sure since I changed this hotkey on my computer. It's not the same as sending the window away, because you end up on the destination desktop, but good anyway.
I agree, there could be another function for this, it is really useful.

The put plugin will send the window to another viewport (ie. side of the cube).

It is in the extras package, also see mousegestures + put where you can throw the window to the next viewport :)

Dragging and dropping across viewports is a problem with the pager, not compiz. The basic problem is that Compiz supports large desktop which other window managers generally do not.
