A few ideas for making it easier to find information, get answers and help people.

Wiki
Hopefully this will fill quickly with valuable information, see the progress so far by visiting the Welcome (http://wiki.compiz-fusion.org//) page.
Please post questions or comments in the Forum/Wiki Feedback (http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/forumdisplay.php?f=101) section.

The Forums
Describe your setup! This can save a lot of time. If you don't, people have to ask - or worse just don't bother with your problem.
Useful information can include:
What Linux distribution,
What desktop type
What video card/driver version
What render method (xgl/aiglx/nvidia)
What version of Compiz/Fusion.
How did you install Compiz Fusion? If packages - who made them?
If you built, what source - tarballs? Git?
Did you use a guide or script, which one?
How do you start Compiz Fusion? Command line? What commands?
If you're having problems, try running Compiz Fusion from a console window and paste any error messages.
A copy of your /ect/X11/xorg.conf file if often helpful in analysing display problems.

You can save a lot of bother by including some of this info in your signature (http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/profile.php?do=editsignature) in the UserCP section (http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/usercp.php).
Try using the forum search. Your question may have been solved or be under discussion.
Try to put new threads in the best forum. Each forum has a brief decription of what its for.
Try to make the title helpful. Think of people using search when you're naming your thread.
The "code" tag puts pasted text in those neat grey boxes with scroll bars. See the vB Code section (http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/misc.php?do=bbcode) of the forum FAQ (http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/faq.php).
One thread, one topic. Keeping each thread to a single question makes it easier to answer, and easier to search for.
If you do get an answer to your question, please take the time to mark your thread solved (http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=3477).
If you have any problems using the forums or think of a way to improve them, please post in the Forum/Wiki Feedback (http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/forumdisplay.php?f=101) section.

IRC
You could also try to get an answer and talk with other users in the Compiz-Fusion chat room (http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=3309). You will need a client (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Relay_Chat#Clients).
Don't ask to ask, just ask!
Include detail of your setup.
Use a paste service (eg http://pastebin.ca/) if you need to quote text.
Don't feel ignored if no-one answers!
If you feel that you are going to use irc regularly it's worth registering (http://freenode.net/faq.shtml#registering) your user name.
IRC can be useful and interesting but don't forget that if you get an answer there to a problem, that answer will be lost to others with that same problem, unless you post on the forum about it... this is one major drawback of IRC.

Mailing Lists
For more background information on the workings of the project, site and community - you could check out the Compiz-Fusion Mailing Lists (http://lists.compiz-fusion.org/). You can catch up on old news via the "archives" or subscribe to keep up-to-date on developments.
